The Global Education Initiative of the World Economic Forum has released a report summarising the discussions held during a consultation event in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The workshop convened leaders from the private sector, government and civil society to reflect and discuss Africa's education priorities - as well as the challenges and opportunities, and the role of the World Bank's education sector strategy in advancing the education agenda for Africa. This document aims to capture the key outcomes and recommendations put forward to the World Bank regarding its 2020 education strategy. The 5th International Conference on ICT for Development, Education and Training hosted by eLearning Africa was the largest and most comprehensive capacity development event for technology-enhanced education and training and a forum for all stakeholders engaged in the education and training sector on the African continent.
Over 1,300 high level decision-makers from governments, and the education and business sectors attended, with almost 80% coming from Africa, making it an important networking venue for experts, practitioners and newcomers. It enabled delegates to develop multinational and cross-industry partnerships, as well as enhancing their knowledge and abilities.
This year's conference had four main themes:
